Assembly Bill 183

A native Nevadan and public servant, James is dedicated to Nevadans, their safety, and their rights to access justice. During the 79th legislative session, James sponsored Assembly Bill 183, which prevents hospitals from sending bills to collection before they make an attempt to collect what is owed by the insurance company.

Many Nevadans have been in a position where their insurance company has not paid a bill that they were obligated to cover and the hospital has sent the bill to collections prior to collecting from the insurance company. This practice can be frustrating and overwhelming for patients dealing with multiple medical bills. AB183 requires hospitals to attempt to collect from insurance companies first.
